“In 2011, the Missouri River flooded South Sioux City, Nebraska, leaving behind ten feet of silt on low lying areas causing havoc for businesses located there.

I was serving First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City at that time. Randy DeRoin was a member and leader of the church council. At this time, Randy asked me, ‘What would First Lutheran do if we couldn’t have church in the present location and building?’ And I had no easy answer for Randy’s question.
